POISON IVY: beautiful to look at but deadly to touch.
PAMELA ISLEY was a brilliant botany student until the day an experiment went horrifically wrong and left her with a physiology more plant-like than human. Blessed (or cursed) with an almost supernatural ability to control plantlife, Isley had such fine control of her pheromes that she was able to place almost anyone under hypnotic control. Unfortunately for most people, her touch was acidic and her kiss so desirable yet ultimately deadly.
At first, POISON IVY was content merely to use her newfound abilities to pull off garden variety crimes – bank robberies and museum heists and the like. Little by little, however, she found herself becoming emotionally divorced from normal human concerns and drifted towards the natural world. Once there, she found man's existence intruding intolerably into the paradise of nature, destroying it for momentary monetary gain.
Thus POISON IVY became an eco-terrorist of the most radical kind, alternately wanting nothing more than to be left alone, and then desiring the eradication of humans and their creations. Similarly, her feelings towards the BATMAN are torn: she hates him because he represents mankind and protects people, while she can't help but admire and respect him, as well as be attracted to him, not least because he's perhaps the only man on the planet who has been able to resist her allure…thus far.
